What is CBM in shipping?

When you’re shipping products, the size and weight of your freight is always a consideration. That’s where CBM comes in – it’s the standard measure for freight shipments. Here at Epackprinting, we always try to pack our products as flat as possible to minimize the CBM of your shipment. We’ll walk you through how to calculate the CBM of your individual cartons so that you can be sure you’re getting accurate shipping rates.

There are two main things to consider: the size of your carton and the weight of your carton. The formula for calculating CBM is relatively simple:

how to measure your carton size
  • CBM (CM) = L x W x H ÷ 1,000,000
  • CBM (inch) = L x W x H ÷ 61,016
  • CBM per copy = Carton size ÷ Pack unit ÷ 61,016
  • CBM per pallet = Pallet size ÷ 61,016

Keep in mind that the CBM of your shipment may affect the shipping price you’re quoted, so it’s important to get an accurate measure. We hope this quick guide has been helpful – if you have any questions, our team at Epackprinting is always happy to help.
